This page answers the most common questions from new and experienced players. Whether you are learning the basics, troubleshooting, or curious about game mechanics — you will find the answer here.
Gameplay Questions
How do I start playing?
Click the Play Now button on any page of this website. You will be taken to the game application where you can register with a social account, email, or enter as a guest. After that, you can start playing immediately.
What are the game modes?
Pawsome Elements offers three modes:
- Practice — Play against AI bots to learn the rules.
- Quick Match — Casual games with 2 to 6 players.
- Ranked Match — Competitive 4-player matches with a global rating system. Learn more on the Ranked Mode page.
How do cards work?
Each card has an Element (Nature, Filth, or Arcane) and a Value (1-9). On your turn, play a card that matches either the Element or Value of the top card on the pile. If you cannot play, draw a card from the deck. The first player to empty their hand wins.

Can I play cards outside my turn?
Yes! If you hold a card that is an exact match (same Element and same Value) to the top card on the pile, you can play it even when it is not your turn. This is a powerful tactic that can disrupt the normal turn order.
What is a Multidog?
The Multidog is a wildcard that can be played on any card, regardless of Element or Value. Any card can also be played on top of it. Multidogs are rare and valuable — save them for when they matter most.
What does Ball of Fortune do?
When you play Ball of Fortune, you choose between 2 randomly selected effects from a pool of 5 possible outcomes: Ball of Curse, Ball of Fate, Ball of Luck, Ball of Wisdom, and Ball of Wish. Each has a different effect on the game. Learn about each one on the Cards page.
Spell Questions
How do spells work?
Before each match, you equip one spell. During the game, instead of playing a card on your turn, you can activate your spell. After use, it goes on cooldown for several turns before you can use it again.
How many spells are there?
There are multiple spells you can unlock and use. Each has a different effect — from transforming cards into Multidogs, to reshuffling your hand, to disrupting opponents. See the featured spells on the Spells page.
How do I unlock spells?
Earn Essence by playing matches, then use Essence to unlock spells in the Atlas — the game's central progression hub.
Can I change my spell between matches?
Yes. You can equip a different spell before each match in the Atlas.
How many cards do I start with?
Every player starts with 9 cards drawn from the shared deck.
Technical Questions
What devices are supported?
Pawsome Elements runs on any device with a modern web browser and internet connection. Desktop and mobile devices are both supported. Chrome, Edge, Opera, and Safari are recommended browsers.
Can I play offline?
No. Pawsome Elements requires an internet connection for all game modes.
I am experiencing lag or crashes. What should I do?
Try the following:
- Clear your browser cache
- Close unnecessary browser tabs
- Update your browser to the latest version
- Restart your device

Is the game free?
Yes, 100% free to play and win. All in-game content can be unlocked by simply playing. There are no pay-to-win mechanics. In-game purchases are completely optional.
How can I turn ads off?
Ads are automatically disabled with your first in-game purchase.
Can I create a private lobby for friends?
Yes, you can create a private lobby exclusively for your friends.
Progression Questions
What is Essence?
Essence is the in-game currency earned by playing matches. Your earnings are based on performance — the higher you place in a match, the more Essence you receive. Even if you do not win, you still earn Essence.

What is the Atlas?
The Atlas is the central progression hub in Pawsome Elements. It has two main sections:
- Spells — Unlock new spells using Essence
- Journey — Exchange Essence for cosmetic rewards (card skins, arena skins, profile appearance)
What are Essence Multipliers?
As you play, you can unlock Essence Multipliers — passive upgrades that increase the amount of Essence you earn from each match. There are multiple tiers to unlock.
What cosmetics can I unlock?
Through the Atlas Journey, you can unlock:
- Card Skins — Personalize your deck with new visual styles
- Arena Skins — Change the look of your play space
- Profile Appearance — Customize your profile with unique styles
These rewards are purely cosmetic and do not affect gameplay.
Can I double my Essence rewards?
Yes, you can double your Essence reward at the end of each match by watching a short ad. This is optional.
Ranked Mode Questions
How does the rating system work?
Ranked Mode uses a hard rating system:
- 1st place earns the most rating
- 2nd and 3rd place still gain rating
- 4th place loses rating (scaled to keep it fair)
This rewards consistent smart play, not just occasional wins.
Is ranked mode pay-to-win?
No. Ranked Mode is fully skill-based. Everyone draws from the same shared deck, and spells are available to all players. There are no paid advantages.
How many players are in a ranked match?
Ranked matches are always 4 players.
